Welcome to
MKG Psychology
Dr Miriam Grossbaum
All of us have had traumatic experiences of one sort of another. We may have suffered grief and loss, or trauma or we may have experienced transitions. We usually manage to find ways to get through these experiences. And yet sometimes we can be left feeling anxious, or discover we are asking too much of ourselves, our partners and families, or our workplace. When that happens, it can be useful to seek the help of a professional to ease the burden.
I believe that the qualities of openness, warmth and compassion form the basis of a good therapeutic relationship. I am committed to walking alongside my clients as they explore their experience and make thoughtful, proactive decisions about their future. Whilst I work with adults of all ages. I have a particular interest in working with midlife and older adults to help them navigate the changes that accompany this time of life.
About Me
I am a former senior schoolteacher who retrained and registered as psychologist twelve years ago. I have a particular interest in how people manage serious life challenges. My Doctoral Thesis focused on exploring the processes people use to navigate adversity. I enjoy working with my clients to help them find their own voice, so that they can discover and draw on their own courage and resilience.

Referrals and Mental Health Plans
As a Medicare registered psychologist, I accept referrals from General Practitioners under Mental Health Treatment Plans. After meeting with a client for an initial assessment, I provide a letter to the referring doctor summarising my initial thoughts and treatment suggestions.
I offer Telehealth consultations in specific situations. I believe, however that face-to-face work is extremely valuable.
For further information about referrals, please contact me to discuss.
